ODS receives NCQA accreditation

NCQA awards ODS Health Plan Inc. accredited status for health plan accreditation

WASHINGTON—The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced today that it has awarded ODS Health Plan Inc. its accreditation status of Accredited. ODS Health Plan’s Accreditation of its commercial preferred provider plan is based on a voluntary review of how a health plan ensures that its members are receiving high-quality care.

“Achieving an accreditation status of Accredited from NCQA is a sign that a health plan is serious about quality,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “It is awarded to plans that meet the basic requirements of NCQA’s rigorous standards for consumer protection and quality improvement.”

“This demonstrates, in an independent and measured way, what many Oregonians long have known: that ODS, widely recognized as the market leader in dental insurance, is also a great place to buy medical insurance,” said Robert Gootee, president and CEO of ODS.

NCQA Accreditation is a nationally recognized evaluation that purchasers, regulators and consumers can use to assess managed care plans. NCQA Accreditation evaluates how well a health plan manages all parts of its delivery system—physicians, hospitals, other providers and administrative services—in order to continuously improve health care for its members.

Accreditation results are available to the public through the Health Plan Report Card (HPRC). The HPRC, available via reportcard.ncqa.org, is an online resource for comprehensive, consumer-oriented information about the clinical performance, member satisfaction, access to care and overall quality of the nation’s health care organizations. Users can quickly and easily look up any NCQA-Accredited or Certified organization’s status and view regularly updated information. The HPRC also is accessible through NCQA’s main Web site, www.ncqa.org.
